Phenergan

Phenergan is an antihistamine that blocks burdens of naturally happening chemical histamine in the body. The drug used in treatment of allergy symptoms such as runny nose, itching, sneezing, watery eyes, itchy skin rashes, and hives. It helps in treating nausea and vomiting, and prevents motion sickness.

Besides the benefits, there are many side effects from the drug. People having itching sensation in eyes, legs, lips, tongue, and arms should be careful while using the drug. Parents should not give this medicine to children below 2 years of age. They should take the advice of a doctor before giving the medicine to their children.

People having the habit of smoking cigarettes or drinking alcohol must consume the drug only after taking doctor’s advice. People having severe health problems, asthma, emphysema, or other breathing problems must avoid the drug usage.

People having history of seizures, high blood pressure, liver or kidney disease, heart disease, problems of glaucoma, stomach ulcer must take some tests and know about drug combinations before consuming this drug. FDA pregnancy category C has surveyed about the drug usage for infants and nursing mothers, but the results not known. Pregnant women should consult their doctor and enquire, whether Phenergan is safe to use, or not.

People should take the drug as prescribed by the doctor, over dose is not recommended. The drug is available in the form of tablets, and liquid solution. Liquid medicine measured by using a measuring spoon, or a cup. The medicine must be limited, overdose creates more problems and sometimes even death.

The drug works well after a meal, people should sleep for sometime after taking the medicine. It is not advisable to stay awake and alert, or drive after consuming the medicine. People should not stand or sit suddenly after consuming the drug. It can make them feel dizzy, or give heart pain.
